Game Information

Game Title: Cyberpunk 2077
Platforms:
Trailers:
Developer: CD PROJEKT RED
Publisher: CD PROJEKT RED
Review Aggregator:
OpenCritic - 87 average - 89% recommended - 62 reviews

Note from OpenCritic:

Please note: This game has significant disparities in performance, player experience, and review scores between the PC, next-gen consoles, Xbox One, and PS4 versions.
The OpenCritic team and several critics suspect that the developer, CD PROJEKT RED, intentionally sought to hide the true state of the game on Xbox One and PS4, with requirements such as only allowing pre-rendered game footage in reviews and not issuing review copies for PS4 and Xbox One versions.
This notice will be taken down in February 2021.

Recent News and Notable Information

SkillUp reports:
I have finished Cyberpunk but I will not have a review up today as I could not comply with CDPR"s embargo requirement that prohibited us from using our own recorded gameplay in the review. Instead, we were told to use b-roll, which is basically trailer footage.
Reviews should not be vehicles for rolling out more marketing material, so I'll put my review up when I'm able to show you the reality of the game with my own footage.
I'm also disappointed that no console review code was provided to any outlet...
Console games are often reviewed without their day one or even day zero patches, so Cyberpunk would not have been special in this regard. Its really lame that no reviewer can tell you how this game runs on console on the review embargo.
I absolutely love this game and I think CDPR did extraordinary work, but its clearly unfinished at this point and no review relying on trailer footage alone can properly convey that.
Fabian Mario Döhla (CDPR PR) regarding reviews being on the Day 1 patch or not (getting conflicting info regarding this so take it with a grain of salt):
They are not - a bunch of issues reviewers encountered (and reported) have been fixed already, some more are part of the update.
Toms Hardware Performance Review:
The minimum GPU listed is a GTX 780, with GTX 1060 6GB recommended for 1080p high, RTX 2060 for 1440p ultra, and an RTX 2080 Super for 4K ultra. Then there's the ray tracing additions, with the RTX 2060 listed as the minimum for 1080p and RT medium, 3070 for 1440p and RT ultra, and 3080 for 4K RT ultra. Based on what we're seeing, it looks like those recommendations are for 30-40 fps.

Cyberpunk 2077 is the ultimate power fantasy. A video game that takes the best of modern RPG, first-person shooter, stealth, and the open world and masterfully blends it into a single product. If Skyrim and GTA V marked a before and after for their genres at the beginning of the 2010s, Cyberpunk 2077 is called to do the same from this 2020.
Daily Mirror - James Ide - 5 / 5 stars
The game may not be perfect but given CD project Red's reputation for fixing and updating games Cyberpunk has a bright neon-lit future. It can proudly sit among its influences of Ghost in the Shell, Blade Runner and Neuromancer (as well as games like Deus Ex, System Shock) with its augmented head held high.
It's been a long wait, but the end result is a massive sprawling RPG with an incredible story, heart-pounding action, solid mechanics and customisation, offering you unparalleled player choice in a deep, atmospheric world that I can't wait to plug myself back into.
Destructoid - Chris Carter - 7.5 / 10
Cyberpunk 2077 is a victim of bloat, but you can choose to ignore a lot of it and take in the sights. That's where Night City is at its best, and I sincerely suggest that you take your time going through it, as rushing will only lead to disappointment. Even just strolling through though though, you'll probably be left wanting more.
Digital Spy - Owen Gough - 5 / 5 stars
We could wax lyrical about how good this game is for another ten years, and we still think the conversation would be relevant - so yes, we think Cyberpunk 2077 is the game of the decade. This is an event, and a big moment in gaming, because the brilliant Cyberpunk 2077 is laying down the stepping stones for greater feats in the future.

CD Projekt RED is willing to take an even bigger risk and dare something very different, combining elements that they have proven to know well and elements which they have no previous experience in.
Eurogamer - Chris Tapsell - Recommended
Exceptional characters, heartfelt storytelling and enjoyable action threaten to be engulfed by endless bugs and hasty, uneven design.
Everyeye.it - Alessandro Bruni - Italian - 9 / 10
And it is precisely for this reason that, despite all the technical problems of the production, we cannot in any way fail to assign a vote of excellence to the work of CDPR: the defects will disappear over time, but already now Cyberpunk 2077 is a title which undoubtedly deserves a place of honor in all players' library.
GAMES.CH - Benjamin Braun - German - 88 / 100
Measured against the extreme expectations, Cyberpunk 2077 can't fulfill any of them. But all in all, despite the countless small weaknesses and inconsequences, with interesting characters, great story and dialogues or the freedom concerning gameplay, CD Projekt delivers a unique and great RPG that every fan of the genre needs to play.
GRYOnline.pl - Michał Mańka - Polish - 9 / 10
Cyberpunk 2077 proves that the developers have improved their skills since fantastic The Witcher 3. It is an excellent action RPG that would benefit from a longer delay to polish the various issues. However, no amount of bugs can diminish the immense pleasure of exploring this world.
Gadgets 360 - Akhil Arora - 3 / 10
The era of the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X has arrived, but Cyberpunk 2077 is currently running on those next-gen platforms via backwards compatibility. A true next-gen update isn't due until sometime in 2021. That means CD Projekt Red developed a game for three platforms, and it's running on an acceptable level on just one (PC), provided you have the hardware. That is just plain ridiculous.
Game Informer - Andrew Reiner - 9 / 10
An open world you can get lost in and continue finding new things to do
GameHaunt - Mark Louis Salazar - 4 / 5 stars
Cyberpunk 2077 is of massive ambition, and the characters in it are brilliantly written and performed.
GameMAG - Александр Копанев - Russian - 9 / 10
It's definitely feels like with Cyberpunk 2077 CD Projekt RED tried to tell a really meaningful story, while using as a backdrop truly a unique setting. And all the while the developers made sure that the game still feels approachable by all kind of people, and that it presents itself with insane graphical fidelity painting an image of an eerily realistic world of tommorow. We doubt there's too many people who don't believe in CD Projekt RED, but in case you're one of them, be warned - Cyberpunk 2077 is something that will change the way you look at the gaming industry as a whole.
GameOnAUS - Royce Wilson - Essential
This is an outstanding and highly enjoyable game, but take your time with it, do all the side missions (think of them as extensions of the main quest, in fact) and don’t rush the main storyline. You should absolutely take the earliest available opportunity to explore Night City and everything it has to offer. From the visuals to the music to the vibe, it’s a superb experience and one I am looking forward to spending a lot more time with.
GamePro - Dennis Michel - German - 83 / 100
Cyberpunk fascinates with its story and characters, but presents itself in a partially desolate state on consoles.
GameSpew - Richard Seagrave - 10 / 10
Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t perfect, but it is ambitious. It marries a gripping story with a huge open world absolutely dripping with atmosphere; one in which, after fifty hours of gameplay, I still feel like I’ve only scratched its surface. Even now I’m itching to jump back in and complete yet more side jobs, not only because they’re enjoyable, but also just in case they offer V more options when it comes to ending their story.
GameSpot - Kallie Plagge - 7 / 10
Cyberpunk 2077 has standout side quests and strong main characters, though its buggy, superficial world and lack of purpose bring it down.
GameWatcher - Marcello Perricone - 9 / 10
A remarkably well-executed open world game whose greatest heights exceed its deepest failings.
Gameblog - Gianni Molinaro - French - 7 / 10
Cyberpunk 2077 is a new masterpiece from CD Projekt RED, a huge, dense, vibrant, colorfoul and dark Sci-Fi RPG that any fan of the genre should step in. First because it will provide the sensation that the story really depends on you choices and that you have everything you need for your playstyle. Then because streets, stores, buildings, inhabitants of Night City won't get out of your head easily. You'll be happy to interact with Keanu Reeves, but the real star is this city and all it provides in terms of atmosphere, game mechanics and stories.
[OpenCritic note: Gianni Molinaro separately reviewed the next-gen (10) and current-gen (4) versions. The scores have been averaged.]

Cyberpunk 2077 is the cyberpunk game of my dreams, it provides one of the most highly detailed environments I’ve ever seen, with an incredibly expansive and immersive narrative.
Gamers Heroes - Blaine Smith - 60 / 100
Cyberpunk 2077 is a great game, but it could have been an incredible game that defined a generation. Instead, it falls victim to its own ambition and the industry's constant desire to push, push, push it out. In its current state, it's not for the faint of heart, and even hardcore Cyberpunk fans may struggle to stay interested amidst all the crashes and issues. If you have yet to pick it up, wait a few months and you could very well be treated to the experience we were all hoping for at launch.
Gamersky - 不倒翁蜀黍 - Chinese - 9.1 / 10
Although there still exist a lot of technical glitches, Cyberpunk 2077 stands out in terms of cyberpunk concept, story-telling, characters, level-design, combat, and so forth. It's a pleasure to spend hundreds of hours in the Night City, and I believe it would be one of the greatest open-world RPGs in the next decade.
GamesBeat - Jeff Grubb - 3 / 5 stars

The dark future certainly looks promising, thanks to the collective imagination of the team at CD Projekt Red, which seems to know no bounds. Cyberpunk 2077 throws you into a beautiful, dense cityscape and offers a staggering amount of flexibility in how you choose to take it from there.
IGN Italy - Davide Mancini - Italian - 9.3 / 10
Cyberpunk 2077 is like an addictive, huge, impressive braindance, where the feelings are real, while sometimes you see the puppet strings. It's an ambitious RPG, where narration, decisions and dialogue are far more important than combat, wrapped around a lot of fun, but usual and not always perfect, action mechanics. Engaging and marvellous to play, Night City on high-end PCs is stunning to see and super stylish. Cyberpunk 2077 is worth the wait, because the adventure of V and Johnny Silverhand is greater than the sum of its parts.
INDIANTVCZ - Filip Kraucher - Czech - 10 / 10
Cyberpunk 2077 offers a great sci-fi experience in which you can get lost for hours. It is not a revolutionary title in its genre, but it brings fresh changes. Whether it's new tasks, well-written dialogues, and characters, good stylized graphics, or very pleasant controls. Decision-making constructions leave you free where you need them. Conversely, they bind you in places where it is important. Everything fits together thanks to that. And if you were afraid that Cyberpunk 2077 would be a debacle. Throw this worry behind your head. Enjoy Night City to the fullest!

We're still playing Cyberpunk 2077 in order to bring you a finished review, but it's impossible to recommend picking this game up at launch on PS4 or PS4 Pro. On PS5 via backwards compatibility, there's still fun to be had - a glimpse of the game's excellent potential - but even then, it's crippled by bugs and crashing issues. There's something truly special at the core of Cyberpunk 2077, but in its current state, it's simply not good enough. So far, a colossal disappointment.
RPG Site - 9 / 10
When Cyberpunk's grim setting and mix of gameplay systems land, it is a powerfully impressive experience - sprawling, dense, clever, witty, and most importantly damn good fun. Other times, it has all the charm of a moody, edgy teenager.
SECTOR.sk - Peter Dragula - Slovak - 10 / 10
Absolutely stunning action game with a lot of content, deep RPG progres and dialogue. Another master-piece from CD Projekt Red!
Saudi Gamer - عصام الشهوان - Arabic - 8 / 10
An ambitious, maybe over ambitious, thrilling ride that falters when it comes to execution. The developer's strength shines through the world building and production, resulting in a unique mix that is let down by a myriad list of technical and AI problems.
Screen Rant - 4 / 5 stars
Ultimately, it feels like Cyberpunk 2077 is a fitting bookend for the previous generation of games and a strong starting point for current-gen. Now it's time to start innovating again.

CD Projekt Red has set a new standard for what can be achieved in this sandbox. Cyberpunk 2077 is taking open-world gaming to the next generation.
The Games Machine - Danilo Dellafrana - Italian - 9.5 / 10
Cyberpunk 2077 is a wild journey within an incredibly fascinating setting; some technical uncertainties destined to disappear and a partial repetitiveness limit its glory, but overall it is an adventure worthy of William Gibson himself. Cyberpunk 2077 allowed me to finally feel immersed in that pen & paper RPG I discovered in 1988, pouring rain clouding my view in a kaleidoscope of neon signs, just as I had imagined while leafing through those pages. Some may not consider it a perfect game, but I do.
TheGamer - Kirk McKeand - 5 / 5 stars
I’m V and the game is Silverhand - I can’t get Cyberpunk 2077 out of my head. I’ve had it a week and played 70 hours, which is probably about as healthy as scooping out my face and replacing it with electronics, but it didn’t feel like work. Like a digital personality loaded onto a biochip, it felt like stepping into another life for a while. It’s a life I can’t wait to relive.
TrueAchievements - Heidi Nicholas - 4.5 / 5 stars
It might not reinvent the genre in every aspect, but for a fantastic story, an insanely detailed word, and brilliant dialogue, you’ve got to try it.
TrustedReviews - Jade King - 4 / 5 stars
CD Projekt Red has created a triumphant RPG experience with Cyberpunk 2077, yet it often falters under the weight of its own ambition thanks to inconsistent writing and narrative
Twisted Voxel - Ali Haider - 7 / 10
Too ambitious for its own good, Cyberpunk 2077 attempts to do too much and falters in its execution as a result. Despite its issues, it’s better than the sum of its parts and might be worth checking out for fans of action RPGs.
VG247 - James Billcliffe - 5 / 5 stars
In the midst of such intense anticipation and scrutiny, it’s easy to get carried away with what Cyberpunk 2077 could have been. The final experience might be more familiar than many predicted, with plenty of elements that aren’t perfect, but it’s dripping with detail and engaging stories. With so much to see and do, Cyberpunk 2077 is the kind of RPG where you blink and hours go by, which is just what we need to finish off 2020.
Windows Central - Jez Corden - 5 / 5 stars
Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world masterpiece that features some of the most immersive and liberating storytelling this industry has to offer. With full freedom to choose V's personality, looks, and gameplay style, Cyberpunk 2077 gives the player an unrelenting amount of control in a world that delivers dozens upon dozens of hours of high-quality content. Cyberpunk 2077 is a mammoth achievement and solidifies CD Projekt RED's place at the top of the pile.
Worth Playing - Chris "Atom" DeAngelus - 6.5 / 10
It may not sound like it, but I enjoyed many aspects of Cyberpunk 2077. It doesn't hit the highs of The Witcher 3, but it still has a lot going for it. However, it was released in such an unfinished state that it's hard to give it a positive review. It's an 8.0 game hiding in a 4.0 game wrapper. I might change my tune in a few months, when patches have rolled out, but even when playing the best version available on the PlayStation systems, there's no getting around it: Cyberpunk 2077 might have been mocked for its delays, but it needed more of them. You'll still have fun if you pick it up now, but unless you're dying for it, it's best to wait until it's been patched and improved.

Cyberpunk 2077 is all mostly fine: not nearly as sweepingly epic as a few entries in their back catalog. CD Projekt Red has always had a penchant for world-building though, and keeps that legacy going. That's not just to avoid crunch; it's arguably the best part of the game so far.

When Cyberpunk's grim setting and mix of gameplay systems land, it is a powerfully impressive experience - sprawling, dense, clever, witty, and most importantly damn good fun. Other times, it has all the charm of a moody, edgy teenager.

Absolutely stunning action game with a lot of content, deep RPG progres and dialogue. Another master-piece from CD Projekt Red!

An ambitious, maybe over ambitious, thrilling ride that falters when it comes to execution. The developer's strength shines through the world building and production, resulting in a unique mix that is let down by a myriad list of technical and AI problems.

Ultimately, it feels like Cyberpunk 2077 is a fitting bookend for the previous generation of games and a strong starting point for current-gen. Now it's time to start innovating again.

The most important thing that everyone needs to know about Cyberpunk 2077 is that while it’s imperfect, it is without a doubt a superb game.

CD Projekt Red has set a new standard for what can be achieved in this sandbox. Cyberpunk 2077 is taking open-world gaming to the next generation.

It might not reinvent the genre in every aspect, but for a fantastic story, an insanely detailed word, and brilliant dialogue, you’ve got to try it.

Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely a technological wonder in the world of video games proving that CDPR has reached unprecedented heights that we could never imagine. They went above and beyond everything they have ever created in the Witcher series.

CD Projekt Red has created a triumphant RPG experience with Cyberpunk 2077, yet it often falters under the weight of its own ambition thanks to inconsistent writing and narrative

Addressing the criticisms and why I still love this game.

As someone who has been eagerly anticipating this game since it's first announcement, I've been following this subreddit for a while now since release and despite avoiding a lot of the trailers and marketing material for the game I can totally understand a lot of the criticism of it. However, the sheer amount of hate I've seen thrown around far exceeded anything I could have expected and did not reflect the experience I'm having with the game.
Not sure if a lot of people will read this, but I just thought it would be interesting to put my thoughts on paper regarding the most prevalent criticisms I've seen surrounding this game, and see if anyone else resonates with my perpective, or are at least able to appreciate it.
Technical issues:
For reference, I have a relatively mid range PC (Ryzen 3700x with RX Vega 64) and the game is running surprisingly well (Mid 30's to 40 FPS on Ultra settings at 1440p) and looks gorgeous even without ray tracing, but this is the first valid criticism that I definitely fully support - this game should not have released on PS4/XBOX one at this time. Not much more needs to be said here and it's very likely that the game was rushed out onto these consoles in time for the holiday period.
I've also been seeing some conflicting comments with some users saying it's been fine on those consoles, but these appear to be in the minority, and the minimum amount of testing needed should have been enough for them to push back the release date of the game, at least on these two systems.
Missing features:
Again, something I agree with completely. Even as someone who avoided a lot of marketing material for this game, there are a lot of features that we've come to expect from a game like this that are just simply not here (not counting some things like wall running and additional apartments which were confirmed not to be present). For a game/setting that emphasizes style and looks, Cyberware should alter your appearance in addition to other augments/implants that are purely cosmetic only. There are so many NPCs in the world already that are heavily augmented and look like fully fledged cyborgs, so it shouldn't be something that's hard to add to our own character. This similarly goes for car customization; there are so many variations of common vehicles we see in the game it really shouldn't have been cut from the game.
The game is also missing a lot of side activities that would greatly add to the variety of gameplay. Things like the street fights and street racing should have been added as separate repeatable activities and not just one-off side quests. I could go on, but then it starts to get a bit more subjective and this is looking to be a really long post anyways...
Marketing:
The moment they announced a release date is the moment they had to start rushing, and with each delay, the pressure to release the game as soon as possible would have been growing. It is clear from the sheer number of delays, that they were not in a position to even consider announcing a final release date. From what I've heard, the marketing material and gameplay footage were also a huge factor that played into the backlash received by this game. I don't believe that it's as simple as CDPR making stuff up as there's remnants features already having been worked on and is half finished in the game files but again, the effect was the same as they did not do nearly enough to correct the record on these cut/underdeveloped features and instead adopted very bold, sweeping statements.
All of this could have been avoided if they followed Bethesda's way of marketing their games; a very brief teaser to let you know the game exists, followed by complete silence until they announce the game a few months before release. Hopefully, they will adopt a similar approach to their marketing in future, but everyone is justified to be highly skeptical of their marketing for any of their future releases.
[This is where my opinions will start to become a bit more divisive but as with the rest of the post, I will try to remain as reasonable and respectful as I can.]
NPC's and AI:
From reading posts and comments on here, this is something that is constantly brought up. I enjoy the memes and funny clips here just as much as anyone else, but when I get to the comments, it's almost always used to trash on the game as a whole, and is something I feel is overly exaggerated. Most of the bugs and glitches I've seen/experienced are visual and do not affect your ability to play the game. The AI is also lacking, with NPC's sometimes walking around in circles and being stuck in their crouching panic animation indefinitely, but again, these are fairly inconsequential in the actual content of the game. Sure, these things will detract from how realistic a game feels, but I find it hard to believe that a lot of people actually spend a considerable amount of time following NPCs while studying their movements and going on random killing sprees to attract cops - I just don't see much value in doing so.
The purpose of 99% of pedestrian NPCs in open world games as large as this is merely to serve as set dressing, an extension of the environment. Even if they each had their own unique detailed schedule, it will not impact the gameplay because they are not designed to be interacted with in any meaningful way. I hope that the constant criticism of NPCs and AI doesn't draw attention away from the requested features that will actually add content to the game and keep people playing.
Comparisons to GTA/RDR:
This is another thing which is frequently discussed and deserves a section in and of itself. I've played many open world games, but here I'll be focussing on GTA and RDR, both being the most prominent examples brought up constantly. I'm not going call these bad games by any means because I like many others, thoroughly enjoyed them. No one can deny that the AI in those games is superior and more consistent than in Cyberpunk but it's good as a baseline and not much more. GTA won't blatantly spawn cops behind you as soon as you commit a crime, but it definitely does something similar in that it will spawn cars and helicopters right in front of you from out of nowhere during the middle of a car chase.
People tend to focus on what GTA and RDR has over Cyberpunk but not the other way round. The gameplay in both GTA and RDR is far more basic, which usually revolves around travelling to a destination followed by some combat. In combat, the AI isn't particularly smart either and will just sit behind cover making it feel more like a shooting gallery. There's far more variety in what you can end up doing in Cyberpunk, and you have more tools at your disposal; you can rush in with melee, focus on hacking, stealth, use special abilities from cyberware or just approach combat like a normal FPS. So even if the AI is worse (which i personally think is fine during combat barring enemies occasionally tripping over their allies once in a while), it ends up feeling far less boring and monotonous.
A major thing this game does far better than Rockstar's titles (Mostly referring to GTA as RDR's setting is too different to compare) is the world design. I'm not just talking about the graphics, but Night City feels far more dense and detailed than any of the locations in Rockstar's games. There's so much detail as well as collectible loot/shards that keeps me wanting to explore every inch of Night City and I find myself playing this game a lot more like a Bethesda game rather than a Rockstar game. Another aspect of this is that there's far more interior locations you can access during the course of Cyberpunk.
This is a complaint I've had with GTA for a long time, (especially after San Andreas) while the cities tend to be large, they feel so hollow and barren with the majority of the action occuring outdoors, and the few indoor locations being very linear. In Cyberpunk, quests will often take you to new locations that you probably won't encounter like apartment buildings, drug dens, warehouses etc. that are hand-crafted like in Fallout and Skyrim and keeps the exploration fresh.
I'll end this section by reiterating that I love GTA and RDR but for very different reasons than Cyberpunk, namely for their amazing stories. But I actually feel like comparing Cyberpunk to a game like Fallout is a much more fitting description of what this game is about.
"Not an RPG"
First off, I see a lot of people arguing about this a lot and I don't personally find it to be all that constructive. The definition of RPG is quite subjective these days and has evolved over time. It feels like some people only consider the old school CRPG's to be "real RPG's" where there's more complexity in dialogue choices and drastically different story outcomes, but the reality is, these kinds of games have become far rarer in the modern day and even a lot of adventure games (e.g. Telltale) which purely focus on linear story rely on "Illusion of choice".
As soon as I realised that the main character will be fully voiced, I knew for sure that the story was going to be a bit more linear similar to Mass Effect and Fallout 4. If you think of it as role-playing an already established character in the setting, treating V as Geralt for example, it starts to make a lot more sense. Of couse, this is not excusing the way that lifepaths were advertised, these should have been marketed as origin stories for your characters to add bit more flavour and alter a few dialogue options, nothing more.
This being said, in my opinion, lack of narrative choice does not disqualify this game from being an RPG, the gear and progression systems clearly resemble that of an RPG and by this logic, Final Fantasy shouldn't be considered an RPG either.
CDPR:
I've seen a lot of people on discord and reddit who literally just want Cyberpunk and CDPR to burn at this point, but as someone who still likes this game and wants it to succeed and fulfill (more of) it's potential, the fact that it still sold well is reassuring news. They clearly know that they messed up big time as per the emergency meetings being held, the relentless backlash online, damage to their reputation as a company and not to mention, the game being literally pulled from the PSN store (a first for a AAA game). The fact that the game didn't turn out to be a failure is much needed financial proof to shareholders that Cyberpunk is a viable and shouldn't just be abandoned (as other AAA companies will do in a heartbeat).
I can absolutely understand the criticism and disappointment surrounding this game (especially for console players) but realise that the game has barely been out for a week and a half and we've already had 3 hotfixes. With most of the staff being on (a well deserved) holiday, the major patches will be coming out in January and February, I would say this is fairly proactive support for a single player AAA game.
It was also quite disheartening to me to see so many people jumping on every new bit of news and framing it in the least charitable way possible. For example, when the 8MB save limit on PC was first discovered (and promptly fixed), a lot of people were so fast to jump on the response given by the CDPR forum moderator who was explaining in detail what seems to be causing the issue and how to avoid it for the time being and being twisted into "CDPR blaming players for crafting".
Similarly, after the recent announcement of free DLC, there was a lot of "fix your game first" type of complaints, while their priority is to fix game, this ignores the fact that studios have multiple teams working on different things, and can therefore do both. From my limited knowledge of software development, you don't just allocate all of your staff on one specific problem. Even if it is marketed as free DLC, a free update is a good thing, why are there complaints about this?
I'm not expecting everyone to still blindly trust CDPR; I certainly will stick to avoiding their marketing for future releases but at least give some more time before writing them off as the next evil corp like EA/Activision. They've had a long history of pro-consumer practises, like offering DRM free games, long-term support and expansions for their games, refraining from microtransactions/lootbox mechanics and just recently this year they've updated their policy on GOG to allow refunds within 30 days of purchases regardless of play time, which is unheard of on other platforms. I'm not willing to let one bad launch send me on a vendetta to relentlessly trash on them especially having thoroughly enjoyed their prior games and all of the above earning them a certain amount of goodwill.
Why I love this game anyways:
Finally, I'll say that Cyberpunk definitely is a niche genre in the AAA space and it's not hard to say that CDPR were bold and took quite a risk here (Just like how Rockstar took a risk with RDR1). Apart from Deus Ex, there isn't really any others I can think of which covers this genre. I agree that a lot of the systems in this game are done better in other games which specialise more on a particular mechanic (stealth, hacking, parkour) but I would also argue that we don't really get a lot of games like Cyberpunk (not counting fantasy settings) with an open world set in a large city that merges all of these elements together (RPG style gear and progression, multiple playstyles/approaches to objectives, immersive story/narrative with deep lore and worldbuilding) so it absolutely is an ambitious game, and it's not outrageous that a large number of people do really enjoy and admire the game despite it's faults. And the best part is... things can only get better from here...

Cayo Perico / End of 2020 De-Brief

Hello everyone, happy new year!
With recent release of Cayo Perico but not much else I wanted to touch base with the community holding out for GTA Online in Liberty City or Vice City, and debrief from the Cayo Perico DLC.
Even though Cayo Perico came out unexpectedly (to us), it is a small but welcome addition to the GTA Online world.
I believe that we still have reason to cling onto hope that that Liberty City will sooner rather than later, and Cayo Perico is a stepping stone to that demonstrating the map expansions are possible.
While I no longer think that we will see a remastered city come this generation of console, but we still have GTA V "Expanded and Enhanced" coming in 2021 which may have much more than just GTA V itself.

Reasons why I think that GTA V "Expanded and Enhanced" is more than just GTA V with updated graphics

  1. GTA V XB1 & PS4 versions already work fine in XBSX/XBSS/PS5. It looks and runs great, similar to a PC level of detail/performance. Why would a significant update be needed if it will be much the same if they didn't have big plans on top of that?
  2. Cayo Perico proves that Rockstar's idea of "Expanded" can mean land expansion
  3. Cayo Perico sounds like it was more a like a side project during COVID-19 WFH than something in the works for a long time. It is not unreasonable to think that Rockstar, with all their global studios now merged together, haven't been working on something big since the bulk of RDR2 was finished.

  1. Why are they being so vague about the details, even to go as far as using a PS3 trailer for it... are they doing this because they are hiding something? Even being so far to be anticlimactic to take off the pressure from fans, and surprise us later.
What Cyberpunk 2077 has taught the overall gaming community lately is what happens when you overpromise and underdeliver. However Rockstar already learnt this lesson back in 2015 when they promised Heists in GTA Online, which kept being reworked and delayed until near the end of the PS3/360 generation and copped a lot of criticism for it.
Basically every social media comment was "Where are the Heists", fans were frustrated. From that time onwards they never released details until about 2 weeks out from launch for a DLC. RDR2 was a bit longer, but only because they had other partners to consider. For this they originally gave it 1 year from announcement to release date, but it was delayed to 2 years, with PC one more year after that (which also wasn't even announced until one month before that).
Here is a quote about what went wrong with Heists:
We aren’t ready to give an official release date yet, but we are confident they will be ready early in 2015. As you may have read on IGN, Heists were a much bigger challenge to create than we had originally anticipated. Early versions were simply not good enough and had to be scrapped more than once as we honed in on how we thought they should work. We’re happy to say that the pack we are now finalizing is something we are excited by and eager to release as soon as it is ready. We, as a company, have always been about trying to make something that is good rather than hitting a date. We apologize when this gets frustrating but firmly believe that rushing out second-rate content does not do anyone any favors. Hopefully you agree that yesterday’s new Trailer is a sign that Heists are shaping up nicely, but we still need some time to fine tune them. Because we need a little time to get Heists right, we are going to give you a small Christmas gift to keep you entertained until we are done with them.

Reasons why I think something related to Liberty City is most likely to be the next major GTA Online expansion to come

  1. GTA IV & EFLC is highly regarded as a masterpiece, it's fanbase is still strong - many still prefer it to GTA V for a variety reasons, so it is a good candidate for a remaster. They can always make the GTA IV car physics, ragdoll, etc. come back again, perhaps as a user configurable option. Having the map there is the gateway to bringing these highly valued games back to a new generation.
Their games always start with the map, source: https://www.mcvuk.com/development-news/inside-rockstar-north-part-1-the-vision/
  1. The availability of GTA IV is terrible. It is only a Backwards Compatibility title on Xbox One (non Enhanced), runs like rubbish on PC - performance wise (and multiplayer is now removed), and the PS4 & PS5 doesn't have it at all. Most other GTAs are available for purchase, at least on Mobile.
  2. GTA V is now 7 years old and the GTA fanbase is now bigger than ever thanks to GTA V & Online. A lot of new fans haven't had the opportunity to experience GTA IV because of the above availability issue. The new fans are desperate for a new (to them) GTA game, especially since it doesn't look like GTA6 is coming any time soon. Or maybe I'm wrong and 6 is coming soon as well?
  3. GTA Online is progressively getting new content referencing to Liberty City or content ported from Liberty City (i.e The Tugboat, QUB3D), so they are not above re-using GTA IV assets or dropping hints.
  4. It is clear that they have been taking the "lazy" route as far as making new content for GTA Online DLCs by re-using existing assets. Don't get me wrong there is still a lot of work involved, but still it is less work than starting from scratch.
But it would make sense that they will continue their more recent M.O. to re-use existing assets rather than start from scratch to save time, effort and cost.
  1. With high profile departures of the writers such as Leslie Benzies, Dan Houser & Lazlow there is no doubt going to be a brain drain. I'm sure they were working on stuff before their departures, and I'm sure that RockstaTake-Two with all their billions of dollars will be able to find other top talent to bring GTA into a new era, but this will take time, and they can get things out in the meantime. The story of GTA IV, Map & other assets are already made, so this gives them a head start to put out games while they rediscover their Mojo to make GTA6 using new talent.
  2. GTA Online is a Big Money Maker, it will make the GTA IV & ELFC remaster worth it because the remastered map will be used for both GTA IV & Online: LC (maybe slight map differences according to time period).
  3. Why did they put so much effort into issuing cease and desists to OpenIV team for OpenIV's LCinV project (even though it used original game files, no piracy) if they weren't planning on doing something in this space themselves.
  4. Cayo Perico aside (which is still quite small), Los Santos as the primary setting of GTA Online is still a bit stale after 7 years. They can't use 2013 Los Santos forever, surely. Not to mention that a new GTA release is already well overdue.

GTA IV Music Licensing speculation/hints

A little while back, a lot of music track licenses expired and they were pulled from the PC version, most notably Vladivostok FM was most affected with most songs removed.
They put in some new tracks to replace it, which wasn't quite as good but it seemed like that was as good as it's going to get.
But then they went ahead and relicensed the original tracks anyway so all the music is now restored again (about 16 months after being originally cut).
Why go though all that expense of relicensing all that music if they aren't planning to capitalise on it in a big way?

Cayo Perico speculation/hints

Not much here directly, but I have played with it a little bit.
The way that it's programmed is interesting. As far as I can tell, travel to the island is sharing a session with Free Mode rather than being a different game mode, which you can tell by seeing the player list stay the same as whoever is in the Freemode session you were in. There is no loading of a different game mode, it is just a cut scene. On PC you can even chat to people who are still in Los Santos.
When you look at the map, you are located South-East of LS (just past USS Luxington), and if you move the mouse you can get locations of LS show up, it's just the map itself which is hidden.
There is a glitch you can do to "free roam" the whole Island, or just go to the Beach Party standalone, it is clear that you are in Free Mode of an existing Los Santos based lobby.
When I was glitched, I was able to take a Dinghy back to LS, LS was visible. about halfway there, the whole Cayo Perico just de-spawned similar to how the USS Luxington does, and also the weathenight cycle changed instantly too.
When I was glitched but still on the Island, a whole bunch of functions were disabled like spawning cars, calling contacts, etc.
What this shows me is that perhaps they are experimenting with how integration with Future GTA Maps will look like.
Instead of loading a whole different game, or loading a different game mode, it could be one big Free Mode made up of all locations, the locations can not be directly accessed without triggering a cut scene, and the properties of how a Free Mode works can change depending on what location on the broader map you are in.
One challenge I anticipate is that they wouldn't want GTA$ earned in LS to be transferred to a totally new GTA Online area. It is well known that a lot of it glitched and they'd want us to start getting rich again. They have also been experimented with holding separate currencies such as Arena Points or Casino Chips. I could imagine that they come up with a storyline where all your GTA$ Cash gets deposited into Maze Bank but then can't be withdrawn to cash or moved to another bank, and in LC you are forced to use a competing bank like the Bank of Liberty. Basically LS = only get Maze Bank, LC = only get Bank of Liberty.
Cars/Planes etc. Can be not widely transferable (i.e. You MKII or Babushka holding a car has engine failure mid flight and crashes, or maybe you need to go to the Airport marker on food), and maybe some planes (i.e. Luxor) can enter on a visiting basis via. Cutscene of that vehicle but can't be saved at the destination into a personal hangar.

Final words

I hope this gives some good for thought.
Keep speculating! At least until we get some solid info
Here's to 2021.

Monetization in Video Games is not inherently greedy, players just don't want to play the games.

My belief started back when GTA Online launched on the Xbox One and PS4 and has been thoroughly reinforced with the response to every single new game that offers "micro-transactions".
Games like GTA Online are meant to be played for a long time. You're not meant to log-in, test out the new vehicles and leave. The intention of the developers is that you work your way up to large purchases so that the purchase feels earned. The majority of the player base decries these intentions as "greed" because they can't seem to grasp the concept that the game isn't about running around and killing each other repeatedly. You're supposed to be running a cobbled together criminal enterprise, that's how you make money.
Shark cards existed to allow players who didn't want to put in the "work" (I personally don't see it that way, I find almost all of the content incredibly fun) to unlock the new toys. That said, it is time that Rockstar updated the amount awarded when you buy a shark card, the price-to-reward ratio is pretty heavily weighted in Rockstar's favor. That is not to say that the game itself is aimed at Shark Card buyers, it just isn't. In fact I would argue that the low yield from Shark Cards actually dissuades more people from using them to supplement their in-game income, than it encourages.
In the case of Red Dead Online, I have no clue what these people are complaining about. It isn't hard to make money or gold in that game, at all. Rockstar has changed how Daily Challenges work, by removing the rolling 2.5x multiplier and replacing it with a bonus that you get when you hit the 28 day limit. Yes, it severely decreases the amount of gold that you can get from daily challenges alone, but I don't care. I have never been able to hit the full multiplier, and I have still earned over 400 gold bars this year. If you actually play the game, you are rewarded for playing the game. It's a weird concept, I know, but it's the truth.
Marvel's Avengers deserves a shout out here too. It's nothing like all these people are complaining about. I am a few Hero ranks away from unlocking everything in the game and I haven't spent a dime more than the $60 I paid to purchase it. They absolutely misread their audience, I won't deny that. But to say that the game is a victim to Square Enix's greed? That's just categorically not true. Stop finding excuses to justify your inability to enjoy something and be bold enough to say that you don't enjoy the game enough to warrant the time required to unlock everything. As a fan of certain properties, one of the hardest things I've learned in this life is that not everything related to those properties was made for me.
tl;dr it's not greed, you're just lazy.

[REQUEST] [PS4] GTA V

I know this game is very old and it’s also fun,I have played it in my friends home, and I enjoyed playing it especially the online but there is a issue and that is the country I live in GTA V is ban and you won’t find it in the ps4 store and also not in any official stores and the only way to get it is either you need to bring it from another country or buy it illegal which i don’t trust, even though there are some trusty stores my friend bought GTA from, but the issue is they sell it at a high price considering it’s not available anywhere else they sell it for more
It’s been years and I still don’t have the game a lot of my friends got it and play it together i kinda feel left out and the games which I have got kinda boring and overplayed,so I found out this community that gives gift cards to people I’m not being greedy Im just requesting if anyone can somehow give me GTA V that would be so kind and I would really be happy
Now considering that the game is almost 8 years old I still find it fun because I personally only played it like 5-6 times and i have few friends who play on Xbox they also play GTA together and have real fun,I also wanted to try out the GTA ONLINE with my friends so I can join them and have fun complete missions together
Now I don’t know how much is the game in other countries,if the price is high it’s ok,don’t buy it and waste your money on helping me I’ll just try to find another way if this doesn’t get me the game because I really want the game so bad
Also,my friends tell me that it doesn’t require ps plus to play and which makes it better so I don’t need to spend any money on the ps plus and I can just play GTA with my friends, and this is my first day on this community and also first post I just wanted to share this post so I can tell everyone my request (sorry for the not very English it’s not my first language) and I hope someone sees this post and helps me get the game and that was my request
Thank you

A open letter from a massive RDR2 fan about RDO , in hopes that someone from R* will take notice

RDR2 might be my favorite game of all time. I’ve played through the story mode 3 times ( currently working on my 4th play through with no mini map , free aim , and trying to 100%) I’ve bought the ultimate edition for both Xbox and PS4 , according to my Xbox I’ve put 977 hours and 54 minutes into your masterpiece. I love this game and it means the world to me but the online portion is an absolute dumpster fire . The game sold 70 million copies yet R* treats it like it sold 2 million . I completely understand why they support GTA , but it’s like they don’t give a F that RDO is in the shape it’s in and there are people ready to open there wallets if they just make it worth playing . I don’t know who was in charge of RDO and it’s design but they need to be fired . There is literally nothing to do . Roles are fun for the 2 weeks it takes you to max it out then there is ZERO reason to go back to it , other then if you want to make a quick $ . You can’t interact with anything in the world , you can’t talk or acknowledge any NPC which makes you feel like your in a empty world ,the naturalist role conflicts with every other role in the game , your stuck with cripps who is a useless and annoying “Uncle “ type character , all the guns are basically the same , Emotes are stupid and complicated to do , the clothes and accessories are like something out of a 80’s drag queens production of “Oklahoma “ , your character doesn’t talk (which was fine in GTA 4’s online In 2008 but it’s 2020 . If it’s a memory issue at least let me respond by text dialogue choices ) , and most importantly, there is 0% of the cowboy role playing charm this game should 100% have as the bedrock of everything built into it . NO ONE said “I want to be the cowboy that studies animals “ or “the cowboy that finds a family’s lost coins “ or “I want to run a hunting business “ !!!!!! I want to be a outlaw who holds up trains and stage coaches, then goes off and hides out , daring the law to come after me , I want to be a “Texas Ranger “ going after other players who grief or those outlaws (player or AI ) that rob trains or banks , I want to be a rancher who teams up with other players or hires AI companions for a cattle drive across new Austin . I want to gamble , drink , hit on prostitutes tell 6 am then have to sober up and then have to face off with the local law/gang that runs the town at high noon for a shoot out on St denis Main Street , I want to fight Indians at fort Wallace , I want to blood fued with the odriscolls cause they killed my horse , I want to go duck hunting with my dog , I want to rob a bank with other players then have to shoot my way out of town while other players try and stop my gang ! None of those things are in this game (other then some half assed make believe version where it’s just you doing these things ) . Hell if I hold up a stage coach , I can’t even threaten them and tell them what I want to try and make it go smoother. You just pull out your gun and start blasting . I can’t believe how badly Rockstar , a company I trust and think very very highly of , has F’d up the online portion so badly . The only thing that’s more surprising is NO PRESS/MEDIA/Gaming news site are covering it or reporting on it . The only thing you saw in the last 7 months was reports of players dressing like clowns . And yes I completely understand there is a pandemic , but these problems started before the pandemic and even during the pandemic , GTA online got TONS of updates and content . R* , get your $#%+ together and save this game . Communicate with your fan base , be honest about what’s coming , even if you can’t put a date on it due to the pandemic , hire COMMUNITY MANAGERS for the biggest sub Reddit’s and Forums so people feel listened to and have someone to go to for answers and communication. Being all dark and secretive while your creating the amazing games you produce is awesome and half the fun of waiting for the next big R* game ! But after you release your game , being secretive and silent is super annoying and is honestly one of the things that makes me question if I want to continue giving you my $ ! Be better R*

GameStar DE: 100 Answers about Cyberpunk (Translation)

Here's attempt number 2, hopefully it won't get auto-deleted this time.
So, German gaming magazine GameStar have released a video on their Youtube channel where they answer 100 questions commonly asked by their fans about the game, based on their previous coverage and the demo journalists got to play.
I figured it's a nice little summary, especially for newcomers, and I learned a few new things from it as well.
You can find the original video here: https://youtu.be/6PBjtRXIgMo
  1. How big is the open world?
The world will be smaller than The Witcher 3’s, but also more densely built. We also have a super serious metric from level designer Miles Tost: There will be more doors than in The Witcher 3, which already had around 2500. But, like in Witcher, not all of them can be entered.
  2. Is there a map already?
There’s no map for the entire game world yet, but this map of the city has been going around.
  3. How many of the buildings can be entered?
A lot of buildings can’t be entered, and large part of the scenery, like street vendors, can’t be interacted with. Still, in our preview build we had the impression of a living world built with love, where there are lot of things to explore and little dialogues to come across.
  4. Will Night City busier than how it currently looks in gameplay?
According to the devs, street traffic was bugged in our demo build, that’s why there was less traffic than planned. There should be cars going around on the streets in the complete game. There were less pedestrians on the sidewalks compared to the very first demo, but it was still more than enough to make the city feel lived-in.
  5. Since traffic was mentioned: how is the vehicle handling?
Still under work. In our session, it resembled GTA’s the most, but was too sensitive. The devs are also still experimenting with more arcade-y controls for unexperienced drivers.
  6. Will there be other vehicles in addition to cars?
Yes, there will be bikes. CD Projekt also promises vehicles that we’re not expecting. In our session, we could also fly around in a flying limousine, but we couldn’t control it.
  7. Can I mod my vehicles?
You can find tuned and styled vehicles, but we can unfortunately not modify them on our own.
  8. Are there radio stations like in GTA?
Yep. Every vehicle has different stations, and on some stations you can hear songs that artists have recorded just for the game.
  9. Is Cyberpunk just GTA in the future?
No. The similarities are mostly superficial. You can cruise around in an open metropolis in both, but Cyberpunk’s is the setting for a real RPG experience with meaningful choices and character options, but still has some big action parts.
  10. Can I run around the city like a madman and mow down everything in my way?
Okay, another thing in common with GTA. You can indeed speed through the city like Rambo, but when the police catch sight of you breaking laws, you’ll get stars and will be hunted. On higher levels, they might even throw sentry turrets on the ground.
  11. How does fast travel function?
At first, there was a metro system planned for fast travel. The metro won’t be usable anymore, but we will be able to travel between tourism spots similar to signposts in The Witcher 3.
  12. What is there to do in Night City?
In addition to classic main and side missions, there are also smaller tasks like the so-called “gigs”, which were known before as “street stories”. These are smaller missions that tell their own story, but on a smaller scale. They should round out Night City and allow you to collect xp. There are about 75 of these.
  13. Is there something like the monster contracts from The Witcher 3?
Yes. There are so-called “cyber-psychos” around the game world. People who had so many cyber implants installed that they went crazy.
  14. What about minigames?
Those will be there too. We can expect hacking, boxing, car races, and shooting ranges.
  15. Can V have multiple apartments?
The devs eventually specified that V will only have one apartment.
  16. Can I at least decorate it myself?
Nnnno. You can only store different vehicles in the garage.
  17. Is the game really only set in Night City?
The city is surrounded by the desert-like Badlands, which has its own quests and factions. When you choose the nomad background, it will also be your starting area.
  18. Are there animals in the game?
There are some animals roaming around the world. Cats even allow you to pet them.
  19. What is the world of Cyberpunk 2077 actually based on?
The Californian free city-state of Night City and its story comes from the pen&paper RPG, Cyberpunk 2020.
  20. And what does Cyberpunk mean?
The term does not originate from the RPG, nor from CD Projekt Red. It refers to a sub-genre of sci-fi centered around the contrast between “high-tech” and “low-life”. The central theme being transhumanism.
  21. Uh, transhumanism?
Trying to improve humans through technology. In this case, through cyberware implants.
  22. What exactly is Cyberpunk Pen&Paper about?
It presents a future where lot of the old governments have collapsed and megacorps take power. Night City is a merciless construct where corporate thugs and gangs wrestle for power. The city will be defined by the contrast between the neon filled high society and dirty alleys full of junkies.
  23. So what are megacorps?
They are huge companies that have taken over some places like Night City, or even classical governments.
  24. And who are they exactly?
There are three of them in the game. The biggest is the tech-giant, “Arasaka”, their rivals, the equipment manufacturer “Militech”, while the latest and youngest is “Kang Tao”. Modern smartguns are the key here.
  25. What are these smartguns?
A specific type of weapons that can be linked with cyberware. The one in the footage has been linked with V’s scanner, and can shoot bullets that track enemies. However, such weapons should do less damage compared to manually aimed ones.
  26. In addition to megacorps, gangs are also fighting over rule of Night City. What gangs are there?
There are the triad-like Tyger Claws; the Mox, a group of prostitutes and outcasts; the hacker group, Voodoo-Boys; the underground militia, 6th Street; the playboy’s gang, aka Valentino’s; the cyberware fanatics, Maelstrom; finally, the fightclub- and steroid-lover Animals.
  27. Can you join these gangs in the game?
No. There’s also no reputation system with factions. However, during the story you will interact with them, and must decide whether you want to work with them or not.
  28. Will there be a morality system?
Cyberpunk will refrain from having a morality system. However, our decisions will still matter heavily.
  29. Do you have to know the source material to understand the story?
Not really, but old fans will be pleased to know that the designer of the RPG, Mike Pondsmith, has been working closesly with CD Projekt Red. He even announced some revisions to some events so they fit the game better.
  30. How long will the story be?
We’ll only know specifics after release. Still, the main story should apparently be shorter than The Witcher 3’s.
  31. Does that mean I can’t spend as much time with Cyberpunk as The Witcher 3?
That’s not what was meant. The dev’s comment was strictly about the main story and bigger side missions, but didn’t include every smaller activity in the game. And in exchange, quests should be more branching and complex than in The Witcher 3. So it’s still possible that with side activities included Cyberpunk will actually be longer, or at least offer more replayability thanks to more choices.
  32. Will there be multiple endings?
    Yes.
  33. Do sidequests influence the main story?
According to the devs, that will be the case for some quests.
  34. What role does Keanu Reeves’s character play?
Johnny Silverhand will play an important role in the plot of Cyberpunk 2077. He has the most voice lines next to our main character, V. As a sort of hologram, he will be with us throughout the game.
  35. Very important: is Keanu Reeves romanceable?
The devs have unfortunately already confirmed that V and Johhny won’t be able to get together.
  36. Are there same-sex romances?
Since V’s character isn’t as pre-defined as Geralt’s, you can choose their romantic preference for yourself, and pursue same-sex relationships. But other NPCs also have their own preferences.
  37. What kind of origins are available for V?
You can choose between the corp-affiliated corpo, the daredevil street kid, or the nomad from the bad lands outside town.
  38. What effects does V’s origins have on my game progression?
You start the game in a different area according to your choice. You also receive some background-specific dialogue options in some conversations.
  39. Does the background also effect the main story?
Yes, the devs want to integrate it to the main story as well, like how your encounters with specific factions will differ based on your background.
  40. How detailed is the character creator?
Cyberpunk has a very detailed and… intimate character creator. Other than classic options, like skin, eyes, hair, etc., you can also personalize your genitals. You won’t be using sliders to adjust every millimeter of your nose, but instead choose between presets for each body part.
  41. How does choosing your sex work?
You don’t just choose a sex, first you choose a male of female base body, which you can then combine with the other sex, like with voice or genitals. You can also go with no genitals. The base body also defines whether others call you he or she.
  42. Can Cyberpunk be streamed despite the nudity?
We can only know for sure after release. Still, Witcher 3 could also be streamed on Twitch without issues. The rules of Twitch are only against games where nudity is the main focus.
  43. Will I only see things from the first person?
In gameplay, yes; there is no TPS view. However, you can look down on your character and check them in the mirror.
  44. What about cutscenes?
There are still cutscenes where we see ourselves from the third person, but the devs have reduced their number since the first demo, and things happen mostly in first person.
  45. What classes does Cyberpunk have?
Cyberpunk has no strict classes, you can combine your skill freely. There are two fundamental playstyles, though: Solo and Netrunner.
  46. What’s the difference between the two styles?
Solo builds on strength or speed, and as such is in the thick of things. Meanwhile, the netrunner tries to take care of enemies from afar and with clever hacks. Or you could build your hero somewhere in-between.
  47. What happened to the Techie?
The robot-professional as the third playstyle has been done away with. Some of its planned skills did make it into the netrunner and tech attributes. For example, you can defuse mines and pick locks.
  48. Why was the Techie removed?
For one, the animations for your own flathead robot would’ve required too many resources. It was also not distinct enough from the Netrunner, according to devs, as both focus on manipulating or hacking technology.
  49. Is the flathead robot still in the game though?
It’ll still be used in the prologue, but that’s part of the story. We won’t be able to use one as our own little henchman.
  50. How does the skill system work?
There are actually multiple skill systems in the game. First, there are five main attributes, each offering 2-3 talent trees with 20 perks. There are also the street credibility points, and you can also improve your skills by just using them, similar to Skyrim.
  51. What is street cred used for?
It shows how well known or liked V is in Night City, and can be improved through side tasks. Higher streed cred will unlock more wares at merchants, and gives attributes and talent points similar to level ups.
  52. Is there a level cap?
Yes, it’s 50 currently, but that can change.
  53. What kind of attributes are there?
There are five attributes you can level. Strength, Reflex, Intelligence, Tech, and Coolness.
  54. Wait, Coolness?
If you skill coolness, you’ll be better at sneaking and stressful situations. You will also be better in cold blood mode, which can be used when you’re under 50% HP.
  55. So can I play Cyberpunk as a stealth game?
Depending on which class you delve more into and which perks you level, a quiet and tactical approach is definitely doable.
  56. Is it also possibly to finish the game without a single kill?
Yes, according to dev statements, there’ll be other means and ways to reach quest goals and to knock out NPCs.
  57. What’s the hacking like in game?
They have changed a few things since the early demos. There’s no need to hack central nodes anymore, you can directly scan and then hack enemies and devices. Enemy hacks do cost memory points, a sort of hacking mana that replenishes slowly.
  58. What can be hacked anyway?
In previous demos, there was a lot to hack. From doors, through sentry guns and all kinds of environmental objects, like a boxing robot that knocks its sparring partner out, to enemy implants.
  59. What exactly are Braindances?
They are perfect memories of NPCs, that you can go through as if in VR.
  60. How will Braindances be used in the game?
In addition to exploring necessary plot info, you can also find hints that can be useful when you enter the stage later. For example, seeing someone input a code or where loot was hidden.
  61. Where do you get cyberware?
You buy then at specialists, the ripperdocs.
  62. And how do they work?
V has cyberware slots on different body parts. There are active, triggered, and passive variants. Passives increase things in the background like stats, or allow you to run faster, among others. Triggered ones are triggered automatically under certain circumstances. A reflex tuner starts bullet time when your HP is too low. Active implants are things like the mantis blades.
  63. What kind of cyberware do we currently know about?
There are all kinds of different implants. Such as scanners, arm blades, or a blood pump in your heart which functions as an internal healing potion.
  64. Can you play V completely without implants?
Some of the modifications will be installed during the story, so you can’t stay 100% human.
  65. Are there disadvantages to having too many cyberware implants?
No, V won’t be afflicted with the so-called Cyberpsychosis from the lore.
  66. How much of a shooter is Cyberpunk?
It will more or less depend on each player how big the shooty bits will be. Depending on your skill and weapon choices, you can get away with very little shooting, or try to solve most of your problems with a generous sprinkling of lead first.
  67. And what does the gunplay feel like?
Similar to Destiny. Meaning that shooting guns feels nice, but since it’s an RPG enemies can take more hits, even to the head, as compared to more realictis shooters.
  68. Is there a cover system?
Yes, Cyberpunk has dynamic covers. When you hide behind a wall, you can peek and shoot.
  69. In case I don’t want to go shooty-shooty, how does melee work?
Classic and nothing fancy. There are buttons to attack, dodge, and block. A well-timed block leads to a counterattack. Most moves do cost stamina, which you must pay attention to.
  70. What kind of melee weapons are there?
You can use all kinds of weapons, from katanas through arm blades to cybernetically decked out gorilla arms.
  71. And how does melee feel?
The heavy hit feedback does makes it fun, but it’s not exceptional. Especially since enemies often hit so hard, that it’s smarter to stay in cover. Whether that will be rebalanced remains to be seen.
  72. Can you create your own weapons?
There will be a crafting system where you can make your own equipment, including weapons.
  73. What about improving items?
That’s doable too. Weapons will have upgrade slots for things like silencers or sights.
  74. What kind of other weapon upgrades are there?
Cyberpunk also offers some fancier stuff. For example, you can equip your boomstick with fire or poison damage. However, some upgrades require specific cyberware. With those, you can bounce bullets off walls, for example.
  75. Does your clothing affect stats?
Clothing has no stats per se, so you can choose the style you like. You can, however, upgrade them like weapons, which can affect stats. Higher quality clothes also offer more slots.
  76. Is V’s inventory limited?
Yes, and carry weight also plays a role.
  77. Can damage numbers be turned off?
The devs have been promised since 2018 that many HUD elements, like damage numbers, will be toggleable. On the other hand, there will be cyberware, like the optical scanner, which give you more interface info.
  78. Will there be multiple difficulties?
Yes, even a hardcore mode with specific conditions, like no HUD, has been announced.
  79. Will there be a New Game+?
According to polish magazine PSX Extreme, a new game+ mode is being worked on. However, it’s unclear whether it will be available on launch, or added later as with The Witcher 3.
  80. Is there fall damage?
Yes, but also a perk to absorb it.
  81. Are there survival elements?
You won’t have to worry about eating and drinking, except to heal yourself.
  82. Is there a photo mode?
Not so surprisingly, a photo mode is planned for the game.
  83. Are there any addons planned?
According to devs, there will be at least as many DLCs as for The Witcher 3, which had 16 smaller free DLCs and two bigger story expansions. We don’t know yet whether Cyberpunk will have the same structure. Still, there should be free content as well as bigger single player expansions.
  84. Will there be a multiplayer mode?
Not on launch. The devs are already working on a yet-undefined multiplayer mode, but that would only happen after the single player expansions are done.
  85. What about a co-op mode?
Definitely not at the start. Whether the promised multiplayer mode will include co-op, is yet unkown.
  86. So, when will the game be out?
After another delay, the current release date is 19.11.2020.
  87. Which platforms will it be available for?
On release: PC, PS4, Xbox One. The Google Stadia version will be online a bit later towards the end of the year.
  88. What about next-gen consoles?
If you have the PS4 or Xbox One version, you’ll be able to play the same version for the new PS5 or Xbox X, respectively. It was announced that there would be an update later which will take full advantage of the new hardware.
  89. What kind of framerate and resolution can we expect on consoles?
We don’t know many specifics yet. Microsoft shows 4K for the Xbox One, but Sonly only 1080p for the PS4. We know nothing about the framerate yet.
  90. If playing on PC, will I require a high-end machine?
Our demo ran on a GeForce RTX 2080Ti, but that shouldn’t speak of the final system specifications. At the very least, you’ll require a top graphics card for ray tracing, as it’s only offerend by Nvidia’s top models, and AMD is still trailing behind with the Navi lineup. Ray tracing aside, the devs claim they make great efforts to optimize the game for mid-range systems.
  91. How much free space will I need?
The PS store shows 80GB, twice as much as what The Witcher 3 needed.
  92. What kind of editions are there?
Next to the digital and standard editions, there’s also and epic collector’s edition – which was sold out pretty quickly everywhere.
  93. What does the digital edition include?
The game (obviously), plus the soundtrack and a digital artbook. A comic, a source book for the pen&paper lore, and some wallpapers for desktop and smartphones. On GOG you’ll also get printable posters and an additional booklet with game infos, and more wallpapers and avatars.
  94. And what’s in the physical standard edition?
The same as in the digital, of course with a physical copy of the game and soundtrack. There’s also a reversible cover, a world compendium, postcards, a map of night city and stickers. Watch out, though! These goodies only come with the first batch of the day-1 edition. They should be produced in a larger quantity, but when they sell out, future versions will be delivered without the physical goodies. The digitals ones will still be available.
  95. Will there be a playable demo before release?
    Nein!
  96. What age rating will the game have?
Violence, blood, nudity, bad language… We’ll go out on a limb and guess 18+.
  97. Will Cyberpunk be in the Xbox Game Pass on release?
Neither Microsoft, nor CD Projekt are planning a game pass release.
  98. Which languages will Cyberpunk be available in?
It’ll be voiced in German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Polish, Brazilian Portugese, Russian, Simplified Chinese. There will also be subtitles available in Arabic, Czech, Hungarian, Korean, Lat. Spanish, Thai, Trad. Chinese, Turkish.
  99. Will the game be censored?
Other than Japan, the game will be released uncensored. And in Japan, only the console versions will be changed, while on PC it remains unchanged, according to JP magazine GameSpark.
  100. Can we meet Ciri in the game?
According to some journalists, there is a small easter egg where you can see Ciri on the cover of a retro gaming magazine. However, the game director has been saying since 2018 that he’s against Ciri making a proper appearance.

  • 3.4GB on PS4
  • 3.2GB on Xbox One
  • 2.9GB on Steam
  • 2.6GB on Social Club.
On the note of releases... Some countries will not be able to access certain content from this update due to gambling laws. Thankfully though, players from these countries will still be allowed to download the update in general.

Money for Diamond Casino

For ways to make money to afford the new DLC content, along with methods to make an empty lobby to do CEO/MC work, check the Mega Guide.
Tips
  • You only need $50,000 to register as a VIP! If you have at least that much, you can register as a VIP for 4 hours and get access to VIP missions (which can be done in an invite only session), giving you a lucrative way to save up.
  • If you own both a crate warehouse and vehicle warehouse, you could use them together to make more money overtime than you could by using either exclusively. Use your sourcing/exports between crate pickups and sales, and you'll be getting the best of both worlds, gaining from the postive money-making aspects of both.

Gambling

As this is a Casino-centric update, there's plenty of ways to gamble away your hard-grinded money.
The gambling in this game centers around a new form of currency, called Chips. These chips are pretty much like real-world gambling chips, with a one-to-one dollar value, except you keep your chips when you leave the casino. Chips are an actual currency in GTA Online, as they can be used to purchase exclusive items from a shop inside the casino, along with being used to bet with when playing the Gambling Games, listed below
  • Slot Machines: There's plenty of options to choose from, but they all perform the same way. Spend some chips, and let the RNG decide whether or not you earn anything from it.
  • Blackjack: Casino style blackjack with up to four simultaneous players, all of which play against the dealer. Anyone who beats the dealer individually wins, anyone who the dealer beats individually loses, and if the dealer gets Blackjack (an Ace and 10/face-card), everyone immediately loses. Assuming your initial hand isn't a Blackjack, you have the option of doubling-down, which doubles your initial bet with the caveat of only being able to hit once.
  • Poker: Three-card poker. You make your bets, check your hand, and similar to Blackjack, each player wins if their hand is better than the dealer's, and the dealer beats whoever has a worse hand than him. While there is no option to double-down, how much you win does depend on how good of a hand you have. The better your hand, the more you win. Also, while you can fold your hand, you lose your initial bet anyway.
  • Horse Racing: Pretty much standard horse racing bettering. You choose a horse, you put your money down, and if you bet correctly, you get double the amount you bet in return. Otherwise, you just lose the amount you bet.
To gain more chips, there is a counter inside the casino where you can buy them, however you are limited in how many you can buy per day (real-world 24 hours). As standard, you can buy a maximum of 20,000 chips per day, but if you own a penthouse of any tier, you can buy up to 50,000 chips per day. Chips can also be traded in for money, but there does not appear to be a limit on this. No matter how many chips you win from gambling, it appears that you can trade them all in at once for the equivalent dollar value.
Lastly, there is the Wheel. It's a roulette wheel that you can only spin once per day, which costs $500 per spin. There are twenty reward slots, and since some rewards are in multiple slots, they have greater chances of being selected. The biggest note about this wheel however is that there is one slot in which you can win a free car! What makes this so significant is that since the car takes a 1/20 slot on the wheel, that means you still have a 5% chance of winning a free high-value vehicle! Compared to most online games, that's pretty much the most generous RNG you can get.

FAQ

Are there any differences between the penthouses
For once, yes! Well, technically... they're the same basic property layout, but each option gives you different addon options.
  • The Cash Pad: The basic Penthouse with no property addons available . You cannot purchase a garage, extra bedroom, lounge, etc. with the Cash Pad. You can, however, purchase penthouse customizations (colour and wall patterns).
  • The Party Penthouse: Gives you certain of the addon options: the main Penthouse, the Extra Bedroom, the Lounge Area, the Spa, and the Bar and Party Hub. You are locked to these options, no more, no less.
  • The High Roller: Gives you all of the property addons as standard, and the most expensive penthouse customization options... this means that you cannot choose your own colour and wall patterns with this version.
  • The "Design Your Own": ...What should be the standard option. It gives you the basic penthouse and allows you to choose which addons and customizations you want, with an extra cost for each one, of course. Just get this one. You can also renovate this option later, allowing you to purchase more addons and change your customizations later.
What do the Penthouse Addons do?
  • Lounge Area: Allows you to purchase the other Penthouse Addons (except for the Extra Bedroom and Garage, which are the only items addons that can be purchased without a Lounge).
  • Media Room: You know the cinemas around Los Santos? The ones that play a few 5 minute animated films on repeat? That, but in a Penthouse.
  • Spa: Gives you access to a hot tub and a Personal Stylist. The Stylist's services are the same as the ones spread around Los Santos (hair, contacts, and make up), but they're all free.
  • Bar and Party Hub: Allows you to consume drinks that instantly intoxicate your character, along with access to special arcade games that aren't available anywhere else in the game.
  • Private Dealer: Allows you to play gambling games in your penthouse.
  • Office: Adds a standard computer, a Gun Locker, and a money vault (don't get excited, it's just aesthetic).
  • Extra Bedroom: Bedrooms in owned properties in GTA Online are used as spawn points, so why can you pay to have an extra one? Because you can now allow a friend of yours to claim it! The Extra Bedroom allows a friend of yours to use your penthouse as a spawn apparently, though the exact implementation of this is not completely clear.
  • Garage: Access to the Penthouse's garage bay.
How do I get the armored car?
  • To recieve the Enus Paragon R (Armoured), you have to complete the Diamond Casino's mission series, which you must own a penthouse to access. Once of the missions are complete, you'll be given the vehicle for free! But remember, it's uninsured and you only get it once, so immediately go into passive mode and take it to the nearest Los Santos Customs to insure it, or else you could lose the vehicle permanently.

Passive Mode

Good news, passive mode has been fixed!
  • Passive Mode can now no longer be active when using a weaponized vehicle
  • A Passive Mode cooldown of 2 minutes is now in place for players who have just killed another player
  • Players now must wait 5 minutes before they can activate Passive Mode again after disabling it
  • Players now must wait 30 seconds before they can disable Passive Mode after activating it
These changes make is so that grievers can no longer abuse passive mode, or at least no where near as easily. If you start to get the upper-hand on a griefer and destroy whatever death-machine they're using to troll you, or if you confront them in a death-machine of your own, they can't abuse Passive Mode to try to get the upper-hand on you!

Solo Session

Check the Mega Guide for ways to push yourself into a public Online session with no one else in it. Keep in mind that some missions and abilities are unavailable if there's no one else with you though!

Bugs and Glitches

  • Apparently on PS4 and Xbox One, you must have full size of GTA V available to download the update, so if you have less than ~60GB free, you may have trouble downloading the update. This does not mean that the entire game is re-downloaded, it just means that the update may not download if you don't have that much space available.

GTA 5 and GTA Online do not have crossplay functionality as of yet.. Whether this is a good or bad thing is debatable. In certain directions, so to speak, crossplay is impossible. Feature parity between the Enhanced Edition (i.e. PS4, Xbox One and PC versions) and the launch version (on PS3 and Xbox 360) never existed, and for many years now the current-generation consoles and PC have received I know I'm late, but all they have to do is make it so you can only play with other platforms in an invite only session. They might not be able to do this between xbox 1 and ps4, but they can still do it between xbox 1 and pc, and ps4 and pc. Edited February 24, 2020 by Lil Tissue I wanted to add something. GTA 5 is only released for the PC version, which means that it doesn’t have any access to other consoles apart from PC. For other games, there are other platforms on which games can be played, such as Xbox, PS4, etc. But you are not allowed to play GTA 5 on these platforms. There is no way available for playing GTA 5 on PC and Xbox together Cross-gen games are those that are released on more than one generation of consoles – like how GTA 5 was released on both PS4/Xbox One and PS3/Xbox 360, or how The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the See, even though GTA V is on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC – none of the platforms can play together. There was a huge uproar when the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 came out because Rockstar All of the platforms are separate. Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, and PC all are 5 separate groups. PC players can not play GTA Online together with Xbox One players or any other combination. However, you can all link your account to the Rockstar S... GTA 5 does not support cross platform or crossplay between Epic Games, PS4, and Xbox One in 2020. The Online component for GTA 5 has never supported crossplay between PC and consoles, and things Is GTA V cross platform from Xbox one to PS4? Alright so I’m still confused. I found videos “announcing” that gta is now cross platform from Xbox to play station from up to three years ago but I still don’t know how to play with a PlayStation player. Even with the existence of Epic Online Services, which provides the developers access to tools like cross-play and cross progression, it is not yet known if Rockstar Games will enable cross play in GTA 5. So for now, players from PC, Xbox and PS4 platforms can only match with players of their respective platforms.
