Help using goldberg steam emulator.

I downloaded Euro Truck Simulator 2 from cs.rin.ru, and I have replaced steam_api.dll and steam_api64.dll with ones from goldberg steam emulator. But when I launch the game, steam opens. What did I do wrong?

macOS build of Goldberg Steam Emulator

I stumbled upon Goldberg Emulator a little while back. It had support for Windows and Linux systems, but lacked support for macOS. So I rolled my sleeves and decided to give it a shot to compile a DRM-free Steamworks .dylib for macOS.
Since Goldberg Emulator is open-source, I took the time to tweak and optimize the code so I could compile a crude working dynamic library from the source. After a couple hours of fiddling with code and compiler flags, I did it.
Compiled a 64-bit version for starters. I'm working on compiling a 32-bit version, but it requires more work. Also the compiler flags weren't perfectly set up to ignore dependencies and misc. files, so the dylib is quite hefty.
Simply replace the libsteam_api.dylib in with a new one, just like you would do with steam_api.dll on Windows, and it should work.
Give it a shot: https://gofile.io/d/ENYFwZ
Link to Goldberg Emulator GitLab repository, from which the dylib was compiled: https://gitlab.com/Mr_Goldberg/goldberg_emulator
EDIT: Added Goldberg Emulator repository link

[how to] Get Remnant back from the ashes.[FIX]

[how to] Get Remnant back from the ashes.[FIX]
[DEPRECATED JUST UPDATE THE SCRIPT FROM THE APP]
Hi all!
Since the last update of "Remnant from the ashes" we are all unable to play it with nucleus.
It should be fixed with the futur nucleus update, but if you want to be able to play it without waiting here we go!(There is no risk for the saves or profiles)
step 1: We will need an additionnal file. This is an EGS emulator called nemirtingas_epic_emu.
This is similar to the goldberg steam emulator.
You can get it here : https://gitlab.com/Nemirtingas/nemirtingas_epic_emu/-/releases

Download and extract it on your desktop or anywhere else.

https://preview.redd.it/er3fk7retoq51.png?width=1135&format=png&auto=webp&s=f56646be0c05a226515ba72c6c0ea54237920d5d
step 2:
Go to your Remnant install folder, in my case :
"E:\Programmes\RemnantFromTheAshes\Remnant\Binaries\Win64".
This folder contain "EOSSDK-Win64-Shipping.dll", this file is the one that we need to replace with the emulator previously downloaded.
Rename this file "EOSSDK-Win64-Shipping.dll.bak" or "EOSSDK-Win64-Shipping.dll.orig".
(You can also just create a backup of this file and save it somewhere else.)
DO NOT DELETE THE ORIGINAL " EOSSDK-Win64-Shipping.dll" !!!
When done open the previouly extracted emulator folder and go to :
-for 64 bits system
NemirtingasEpicEmu\release\win64
-for 32 bits system(IDK if it work)
NemirtingasEpicEmu\release\win32
Copy the " EOSSDK-Win64-Shipping.dll" containted in it in the same folder than the previoulsy renamed file ( "EOSSDK-Win64-Shipping.dll.bak" or "EOSSDK-Win64-Shipping.dll.orig".) .

https://preview.redd.it/sevz381itoq51.png?width=960&format=png&auto=webp&s=7bce9f97c0fb36d02a708f25eb7354023e5581b9
At this step you can already enjoy remnant in splitscreen!!
With the emulator you will not be able to play remnant online,so this is why we have to save the original dll file.
If you want play online sessions (witthout nucleus) you just have to switch between the dll.

Additionnal step :
The emulator will name each player "DefaultName" this is no big deal i guess, because there is no impacts in the game like saves etc.
But if you want it to be clean like me, here we go!
1: Go to your nucleus script folder and open the remant script with your text editor and add this line
Game.KeepSymLinkOnExit = true;

https://preview.redd.it/ovq52x6ntoq51.png?width=1813&format=png&auto=webp&s=f520ff2cc9c1488ee36f9174980240896fd1feda
Save and close it.
2: Launch remnant with nucleus and start a splitscreen session, when both players are connected to the session close the game and nucleus.
3: Go to your nucleus content folder, now open the "Remnant From the Ashes" folder. You will find some folders called "instance0,instance1" etc.

https://preview.redd.it/1h6t31lauoq51.png?width=1146&format=png&auto=webp&s=4601c2dd1f34d68070ce256374916304faab96c5
The next step should be repeated for all instance folders.
Go to "Instance0\Remnant\Binaries\Win64".
Here you will find a json file named "NemirtingasEpicEmu.json", open it in a text editor.
https://preview.redd.it/aq4r505rroq51.png?width=1202&format=png&auto=webp&s=783c24ff0ca23c4bca0195e992c1e6c8ffdec727
At the line "username": "DefaultName" just replace "DefaultName" with your own name.
ex: "username": "Koumikou"
Save the change and do it for each instance folders.
Now you can play Remnant in splitscreen session!!!
I hope that will be usefull for some of you.
This is for me the easiest way ,maybe not the best, let me know!

Can I launch Civ V without Steam?

I have a copy of CivV from csinru. It needs my Steam to be running on the background for it to play. I'm not into online multiplayer. I just want to play in single player mode to understand the gist of it. I know it is a DRM. I have checked goldberg steam emulator but I have no idea how to integrate it (I doubt it's as simple as a few dll). What can I do to launch CivV without Steam? I have searched the whole reddit and megathread as well as other communities, but to no avail.
UPDATE: Got it all working now. The game was pre-cracked with UberPsyX's multiplayer crack, which causes all the mess. Not sure why it doesn't work well with the emulators. After applying the ALI213 version, the game launches without Steam. Besides that, I have learned much from the emulators too (I do have the legit copy in my Steam too). Thank you.

Hello. Really need some help-can't find custom Steam API and other issues.

Hello there. I recently discovered the Goldberg Steam Emulator after looking for a way to play a game without it updating anymore(mod issues-not really into multiplayer so much), and I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately, I've run into a few problems.
The first set of instructions were easy enough: as I was going to run it on a computer with Windows 10, I went ahead and installed both Git and Visual Studio 2019(including the C++ tools) as instructed and at first, everything went very smoothly. But when I went to run the build_win_release.bat file, I couldn't get anything to work.
I've also been looking everywhere for Mr. Goldberg's custom Steam API mentioned here, but I've been unable to find it anywhere. Did I miss a step?
Apparently there also seems to be instructions on how to build it with CMake and Visual Studio, but I can't tell if it's a necessary step or if it's just an alternative. Also need to know what's up with the SRC folder is in reference to the "Generate x64" portion of the Visual Studio build instructions(especially if it's required!) because I can't find that anywhere, either.
So yeah, any and all help would be appreciated.

Can a Steam LAN Cache improve multiplayer connections for client/server games?

I have a few Steam games that are client/server based but don't explicitly offer LAN support, is there something I can set up to keep packets from routing through some remote internet server for no reason, or is Steam already smart enough to avoid this when everyone's in the same building?
Does the logical opposite of a virtual LAN exist, or is that a redundant concept?
Edit: Okay I found the thing I was looking for. It's called Goldberg Steam Emulator, but has other functionality built in that may be questionable re: copyright and DRM laws.

100% Orange Juice: 4 Player Splitscreen

EDIT: I made a quick video showcasing this in action. Its nothing more than me terribly playing 10 chapters and not managing to accomplish much, but it gets the general idea of what splitscreen looks like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdkUb6Ub1DE
EDIT 2: Added a section on how to unlock all online characters/items and give yourself max level for splitscreen play without the grind! Check it out below.
EDIT 3: So I have confirmation from u/WindowsGuyJim that Goldberg emulator does unlock all DLC and bonus characters, whether or not you bought it on Steam. Be a good person, and be sure to buy the DLC before playing splitscreen! I changed text below to reflect that.
Notes:
Requirements (Direct download links provided in relevant steps below):
The Goldberg Steam Emulator is a steam emulator that emulates steam online features on a LAN. This is necessary even if you are playing on only one computer, since the games online section is required for multiplayer. Universal Splitscreen is a program that redirects input from multiple keyboards, mouses, and/or controllers to multiple instances of a game to enable local splitscreen on games that don't natively feature it. Sizer is a simple program that resizes program windows and moves them to exact locations on screen to form a neat splitscreen.
Setting up the Goldberg Emulator:
1) Download the Goldberg Emulator (direct download link here) and extract its contents to a temp folder (your desktop will do). You can right click the zip and click "Extract All..." to unzip it without cluttering files onto your desktop.
2) Open your OJ install folder, which should be located in \steamapps\common\100 Orange Juice\ (the default steam install directory is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\). You can also find it by going into Steam, right clicking the game, and clicking Properties -> Local Files -> Browse Local Files... Find steam_api.dll and rename it to steam_api.steam.dll. Any file name will work, so long as you change it, and you can keep track of which dll file belongs to Steam and Goldberg.
3) From the Goldberg emulator folder you extracted in step 1, find the steam_api.dll file and copy it to your OJ install folder.
4) Create a new text file in your OJ folder called steam_appid.txt. Open it in Notepad and copy 282800 into the text file and save it.
5) The goldberg Emulator should now be setup. Launch the game (directly from the executable, not from steam. Make a shortcut to the game on your desktop while you're at it) to verify it launches, and if it does, go to online and be sure that it lets you into the match list, but finds no matches. Goldberg emulator unlocks all DLC whether you own it or not, so be a responsible player and pay for the DLC!
Setting up Universal Splitscreen:
1) Download Universal Splitscreen (direct download link here) and extract it someplace convenient. You can right click the zip and click "Extract All..." to unzip it without cluttering files onto your desktop. C:\Program Files\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\ is recommended, but the desktop will work if you're lazy. In either case, create a shortcut to UniversalSplitScreen.exe from the extracted folder onto your desktop.
2) Open Universal Splitscreen, and go to options. Click New, and in the popup box, type in 100% Orange Juice. Find the "Autofill handle name in unlocker" field, and copy into it \Sessions\1\BaseNamedObjects\Luna. Then make sure that all the check boxes in the options panel are unchecked except the following, and then click save. Here is a screenshot of all of these options entered correctly for reference.
3) Make sure you saved everything in the previous step! To be sure, close out of Universal Splitscreen and reopen it. Go back to options, and find 100% Orange Juice from the drop down list, and click load. If everything shows back up correctly, it has been saved. Universal Splitscreen setup should now be done.
Unlocking all Online Characters/Items + Getting Max Level For Splitscreen Play Note: This unlocks characters and character skins which have their unlocks tied to your steam account. They'd normally say "Online" next to them on the character select screen or shop and would have to be bought in the in game shop to unlock normally. This will also make you max level, and give you the 10%, 20%, and 30% store discounts. A complete save file is required for the rest of the characters.
1) Download this zip file with all the online stat files and extract them to a temp folder on your desktop. You can right click the zip and click "Extract All..." to unzip it without cluttering files onto your desktop.
2) Go to the start menu, and in the search bar, type in %appdata% and press enter. A folder should pop up. Inside it, find the folder named Goldberg SteamEmu Saves and open it. Inside that folder, find a folder named 282800, and inside of that folder, find a folder named stats. If any/none of these folders exist, run OJ with the Goldberg emulator and try again.
3) Open the temp folder you extracted the zip folder to earlier, and copy all of those files into the folder you opened in the previous step, overwriting any existing files. Once that finishes, you should be done! Open OJ (make sure you are using the Goldberg Emu steam_api.dll) and make sure that you have all the online characters unlocked, and that your level is now max.
Playing OJ splitscreen (follow every time you want to play):
1) Open Universal Splitscreen and go to options. Find 100% Orange Juice from the drop down list, and click load.
2) Go to the Utilities tab, and click on Goldberg. Make sure there is a 17 digit long number in the Steam ID field and a name, and click set. Which number you use does not matter, nor does the name since OJ will use the name in your save file.
3) Launch OJ from the game executable or the shortcut you made in the Goldberg setup section (remember, not through Steam!). Make sure the screen mode is set to Windowed, and the resolution is something that will fit on your screen (see below bullet points), and click Play. - For a 1080p screen, I only recommend 2 games per monitor, and using 800x600 as the resolution, since any higher resolution/more game screens per monitor will cause them to overlap. - For a 4K screen, I'd recommend using 1080p for each game instance, and all 4 of them in each corner of the screen. - If you happen to have a 1600x1200 monitor lying around, I'd highly recommend using it if you don't have a 4K screen, since it will perfectly fit 4 800x600 games on it.
4) Using only the mouse you want the first player to use, click on the game window, then click on Universal Splitscreen without clicking on anything else (not even the desktop). Make sure you are on the Current Window tab, and click "set mouse" to assign the current mouse you are using to that game window. Then click "Unlock" in the Handle unlocker box, so that you can open another instance of OJ later. If you don't want to see the window borders on the game, click on "Toggle window Borders" to remove them. The game screen will resize a little bit bigger than the resolution you set in the launcher when you do. You can use Sizer to correctly resize it to the resolution you launched the game with, and move it to a specific corner of your screen. Just click on the game window, then right click on the Sizer icon in your system tray, and click the resolution/corner you want. You may have to add the resolution/corner in Sizer settings.
5) Repeat steps 2-4 for each additional playecharacter you want to play with. For the Goldberg Settings, make sure that every player has a unique Steam ID. Simply increasing whatever number you have in the Steam ID box by 1 every time will be easiest. Make sure you complete Step 4 with a different mouse for each player. If one player is going to play as more than one character (to avoid Co-op CPU team mates, for example), you can either give that player one mouse for each character, or just use the same mouse for each character. You may have to pick your characters/decks first before starting Universal Splitscreen in step 8 though.
6) Once you have a game open for each player and have configured each of them in Universal Splitscreen, make sure you have every game window in the right place you want them on your monitor(s), and for the love of god, go to your sound settings and mute each instance of the game except one. You'll thank me later if you don't already don't see the issue.
7) Every player is now free to configure their avatars to their pleasing, and go to single player custom games to build their decks (take turns! :P). Once everyone's prep is done tho, everyone should go to Online. One player (anyone) should make a lobby and remember to set a password!! If you don't, every turn will have a time limit on it, and that's just a hassle. Every other player should refresh the lobby list, and they should find the lobby. All players should join it. You can do this step after step 8, but its easier to do all of this first, since otherwise you will have to map a keyboard to every game to enter a lobby password or just not use one, and I did not test for this.
8) Once you're sure you have everything all ready to go, go back to Universal Splitscreen, and click "Start split screen". The window should disappear, and every mouse should now control the cursor of its own window simultaneously. If you get an error or something doesn't work, verify that everything in Options is configured correctly and if it is, close Universal Splitscreen and every game (or possibly restart your computer), and try again making sure to follow all steps carefully. If you still have issues, please ask for help in the comments, as Universal Splitscreen isn't perfect yet.
9) Enjoy your splitscreen OJ! When you want to stop splitscreen, just press the End key on the keyboard. Universal Splitscreen will remember everything for every game you just opened until you close the Universal splitscreen window, so you can just click start splitscreen again if you needed to look something up on the wiki or had to recreate the lobby or something, but you won't need to end splitscreen otherwise until you're done playing after the lobby is setup, since none of the games will see input from the keyboard for passwords and stuff. Just remember Goldberg is a LAN tool, so you can play on different computers if you'd like (tho I only tested with one!), and you don't have to use Universal Splitscreen, so you can play a 4 player co-op boss by yourself if you've got no friends and determined to not have to play with CPU AIs.
Switching between Goldberg and Steam:
Since Goldberg replaces steam_api.dll, it isn't possible to play splitscreen online, but it is still possible to switch between online play and splitscreen. To go back online, just rename steam_api.dll to steam_api.goldberg.dll or any other filename you want, and rename steam_api.steam.dll or whatever name you choose back to steam_api.dll. Be sure you switch back to the original steam dll before updating, or the goldberg dll with be deleted and replaced! This guide should also work with any OJ mods you want to use, so this could be a way of enjoying mods that require .exe modifications without worrying about VAC bans (tho I don't know of any mods that require .exe mods myself or if they actually exist).

Steam Emulators - Smart Steam and Goldberg

Hello everyone.Thank you for reading this post. I am trying to setup Smart Steam Emu and Goldberg Emu. I want to turn steam games with online lobbies into LAN games. Starting with Borderlands GOTY I want to start cracking these games. But after scouring the net I find no simple guide as to what to do. So here I am, reaching out to the Reddit community for help.I will be forever grateful for any help you guys (and ladies) could offer.Thank you.
Update: I managed to play with my friend. Had to configure Custom Broadcast. Now question, I have my friends in the "custom broadcast", Does my friend also need everyone else in his "custom broadcast" for a better connection? I disconnected from host multiple times initially when starting the game. once stable connection was made we could play with no problems .
