I feel obligated to say that this is for my own personal interest. This isn't part of my job nor have I been hired by anyone to conduct this survey, of sorts. I'm only interested in gauging the interest from an outsiders point of view.
Ultimately, does or doesn't Reno suck?
Over the past few years, Reno has aimed at changing not only it's economy but also it's perception.
As a Reno native, I've witnessed firsthand that the city has been the less successful and not as popular sibling to Las Vegas. Our economy has focused on tourism (casinos and skiing) and relied on the gold mining in the northeastern part of the state.
That's changed recently. Yes, we still have casinos. Yes, there are companies still removing the precious ore in Elko and Humboldt County, but we have companies like Tesla, Switch, Apple, and Fulcrum Biofuels locating and doing more business in Nevada. Microsoft Licensing has had their HQ's here for almost 20 years.
My point is not to persuade you into think that Reno is competing with the Bay Area, or any city, for that matter. I'm curious as to what your perspective is of The Biggest Little City? Or, maybe you don't even have one? What sort of PR does Reno get in your neck of the woods?
The reason I ask is that there is plenty of local rhetoric suggesting folks from the Bay Area and Sacramento are interested in relocating to Reno for a variety of reasons.
A couple specific questions about Reno I have for you:
Have you been to Reno? What did you enjoy and what didn't you enjoy?
Have you every thought about relocating to Reno? If so, what's held you up?
Does having Nevada being designated as a test state for UAV's hold any interest for you, specifically from a technological perspective?
What are you questions on Reno?
About the Bay Area:
What do/don't you enjoy about the Bay Area? I'm looking for a variety of answers. Is it cultural, is the the Pacific ocean, is it the educational institutions, housing market, etc. etc.
If you were looking to relocate, what would you criteria would you be looking for?
If you moved to the Bay Area, where'd you move from and why'd you move?
This is somewhat of a spur of the moment post. I'd be happy to elaborate or answer questions you may have.

ELKO, Nev. - A small airplane has apparently crashed into the parking lot of a business in Elko, Nevada Friday night, and photos and video from the scene shows flames and smoke consuming several vehicles.
Fox 13 News viewer Tyler Belderrain snapped a photo of the aftermath of the apparent crash around 7:35 p.m. Nevada time Friday.
An employee inside the Gold Dust Casino told Fox 13 News a plane crashed into the parking lot of the Barrick Gold Corp., which is next door to the Gold Dust.
The reported crash site is a short distance from Elko Regional Airport.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports the crash caused multiple explosions and sent flames into the air near the casino, a grocery store and a senior housing complex.
Chet Gilbert, the owner of the nearby Sierra Java coffee shop, said his business was closed Friday night but they have since opened their doors and are offering coffee to people who have been evacuated from nearby businesses and restaurants.
